This song was written February 1987. This song may have been sung once or twice by our choir of 5 to 6 members. Sounds like a small group. Strong and bold for the witnessing of the Lord. The song Everyday Is A New Day is about victory with Jesus, everyday a daily walk with Him. As you know, our blog showcases songs in the Leap Over Walls Music library. This week, this composer is asking you, what does the title mean to you. Even though I wrote it, I found out that the title could mean more than one thing to different people. It could mean, with Christ all things are wonderful from the git go. Or, all things are wonderful, because all things are the Lord's and he can fix it for you. You see, He knows your days beginning and your days ending. Included in this blog are life experiences of 3 people, who will briefly tell you what everyday is a new day means to them.
Life experience 1: A young college male had an altercation with a neighbor who was around his age. Since they saw each other daily, the situation only worsen over time. One day the neighbor pulled a gun on the young man. The neighbor attempted to shoot the male several times but the gun jammed each time. The young college male escaped. We've all had those moments when God "jams" things for us. How did that happen? you ask yourself. Well children, it's time to get to praising God indeed. He's so worthy. Yes, He has jammed quite a few things for me (Jude 24).
Life experience 2: (About me) After a couple of years of working hard to get money for college, I made it into school. Then, out of the blue, up jumps the Devil. One of my teachers called me to her office, she shook her finger and scolded me for sleeping in her class. She threatened to throw me out of school if I did it again. I tried to explain that it wasn't me. Another student who was in the class, tried to defend me but it only made the teacher more angry. All I could do was to shut up. Later that day, I met the sleeping culprit. I told her what happened and I asked her to please stop sleeping in class, so I could graduate! My sleepy head friend did not look like me, except we were of the same race, seated in the same row, 5 seats away. I let God fix it-ever day is a new day.
Life experience 3: My mother and my grand-aunt raised me, as I may have mentioned before. Let me tell you, when you have more than 2 generations under one roof, it's a history lesson all by it's self. Sometimes Auntie would get to talking, she would tell me about her life in the south. After Auntie's mother died, she left the small farm and made her way north by working as a cook, with the road gangs-they built roads. She made many friends and a few enemies. One night, she and the crew were cleaning up. A dark shadow fell across her back. She panicked and threw her arms over her head to protect herself. As she was beginning to fall, she heard this quiet, still voice, speak inside her, saying, "Tia!, it's a woman, fight her!". Auntie said that's all she needed to hear and she defended herself against another woman who had a knife in her hand and was cloaked in a man's coat. Auntie had took the knife away from the other woman and was coming down on the other woman when the crew members ran in and grabbed Auntie off of the woman. The other woman ran out. Auntie was cut, from her left ear to her right shoulder. It was a notable injury but she lived. What a testimony, that God will fight your battle and that God is always with you. I would say, everyday is a new day with the Lord.
Well, until we meet again, Lamentations 3:22-23 "Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not". Verse 23 "They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness".
